Richard William Casey, M.D., F.R.C.S. (C) Medical Director, The Male Health Centres Biography
As Director of The Male Health Centres, Dr. Casey has developed an interest in men's health, particularly sexual function. His involvement with his patients and their partners has broadened his experience to include female sexual health. As a regular participant at the Guelph Conference on Sexuality, he has been published extensively. Dr. Casey is a regular contributor to a number of media outlets including CFRB, Doctor on Call, Jane Hawtin Live, The Chronicle, CBC, The Toronto Star and the Toronto Sun. He is the appointed Editor-in-Chief of the journal of Sexual and Reproductive Medicine. The Male Health Centres (TMHC) now have locations in Barrie, Toronto, and Oakville. Using treatment protocols developed by Dr. Casey and community physicians, TMHC provides excellent care to men with erectile dysfunction and their partners. TMHC also participates in clinical research studies and offer their patients treatments often unavailable anywhere else in Canada. For example, TMHC was the largest contributor to the Phase III Sildenafil (VIAGRA) study, initiated in 1996. TMHC has a number of ongoing projects in this area and brings this expertise to each community it serves. In 1992 Dr. Casey determined that clinical research could be organized in a network of sites in order to provide standardized processses and procedures thus beneficial to pharmaceutical companies' desires for accelerated clinical development. He formed CLIMX Research which has recently been renamed to CMX Research Inc. to acknowledge its continued development across a range of therapeutic specialties.
