Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) There has been increased interest in sexual dysfunction in the past few years largely due to the development of effective treatments. However, emphasis has been on male erectile dysfunction. Only now are physicians learning what happens with females during sexual excitement and orgasm. The physical aspects of orgasm are poorly understood. With the knowledge of normal physiology during orgasm, physicians as well as therapists, will be able to help females with their sexual difficulties. The Fe/Male Health Centre has recently been established to help women who are experiencing sexual difficulties. What is sexual dysfunction in women?
A referral from your family physician is required. This should include medical history as well as any previous treatment for sexual dysfunction. These two different types of assessments are offered to accomodate different needs of the clients. A patient may have already been assessed previously but to no avail. She may wish to try the 45-minute assessment to see if anything new would be offered to her. On the other hand, if she has not been assessed at all, either by a therapist or by a medical doctor, she may wish to have the first type of assessment. We prefer to speak with the client when booking the appointment since there is certain information that is required. At this time, The Fe/Male Health Centre is being conducted at our Oakville office only.
